¿Qué es Wickerpark?

Justo cuando pensábamos que la temporada de festivales estaba terminada, Wickerpark aparece para hacer volar nuestra imaginación una vez más. ¿Has oído hablar alguna vez de este festival de Oriente Medio? Se trata de un festival independiente que ocurre cada septiembre desde hace 7 años. El mejor lugar para encontrarse con la mejor música alternativa de toda la región.

¿Dónde? Todos los años repite lugar, justo pegado a la casa de verano de su fundador,en la ciudad costera de Batroun (norte de Beirut, Líbano).

Uno de los mejores puntos de este festival es que muestra un fuerte compromiso medioambiental promoviéndolo a través de varias ONG. Iniciativas independientes que muestran diferentes proyectos, todos alrededor de la sostenibilidad, el arte y el activismo. Algunos de sus nombres son: Skoun, Lebanese Addictions Center, Marsa Sexual Health Center, Recycle Lebanon, RegenerateLebanon.

¡Volvemos a la música! El line up del festival combina talentos emergentes libaneses con bandas más consolidadas. Wickerpark es uno de los festivales más tranquilos, accesibles y satisfactorios de todo el país. Estos fueron los artistas este año: EL RASS, GIZZMO, INTERBELLUM, KID FOURTEEN, POSTCARDS, TANJARET DAGHET, THE SUDANESE BAND. Y en cuanto a DJ: LILIANE CHLELA, Bel Loge, Shway Shway.

Uno de los que llamaron más nuestra atención fue The Sudanese Band. Todos los miembros de este grupo provienen de Sudan aunque actualmente vivan en Líbano. En cualquier caso, la razón principal por la que destacaron, fue su amor por la tradición sudanesa y el enorme vínculo que se apreciaba entre ellos. Además, otro hecho a destacar es que el equipo Wickerpack, también ayuda a grupos nóveles a grabar su primer disco. ¿Es bonito no?

Entonces, ¿vamos todos a El Líbano para el próximo festival Wikerparck?

What is Wickerpark?
A Grassroots alternative festival.

Just when you thought the festive season ended, Wickerpark is there to just blow your mind one more time. So have you heard about this festival that happens in middle east? Wickerpark, the independent festival that happens every September since 7 years. It is the greatest place to find the best alternative music in the region.

Where is it happening ?
They always have been on the same spot and it is next to the founder’s beach house in the coastal city of Batroun (north of Beirut, Lebaon).

An awesome fact about this festival is that they feel the duty towards the environment and they do that through NGO’s that they believe in. independent initiatives by showcasing projects that revolve around sustainability, art and activism. These are some of the NGO’s.  Skoun, Lebanese Addictions Center, Marsa Sexual Health Center, Recycle Lebanon, RegenerateLebanon.

Going back to the music !
The program of the Festival combines emerging Lebanese talents with more established and experienced bands. Wickerpark is considered to be the most laid-back, accessible and rewarding live music experience in the country.
Lets talk about the crazy line up now.

One thing got our attention was the THE SUDANESE BAND. The band’s members are all from Sudan who work in Lebanon. However, the reason that kept their vibe going on is their love to the traditional sudanese music and the bond of their strong friendship.

The best thing is that wickerpark’s team is helping the band on recording their first album. All of these happened when they discovered them by mistake. Isnt this just wonderful?
